Doughty, Arthur G., and Lieutenant Colonel William Wood, The King's Book of Quebec, Volumes 1 and 2, Ottawa: Mortimer Co. Limited, 1911.
The King's Book of Quebec consisting of two volumes published in October 1911, was printed on Strathmore paper, with wide margins and a variety of bindings. Some appeared in temporary light card covers, uncut and ready for more elaborate treatment while others destined for special presentation or for libraries were given appropriate leather and half leather bindings. Issues of format, editorial tasks and the selection of illustrations were left to Doughty. We have not found any information on the sale or distribution of the volumes though it is highly likely they were given to university and public libraries.
Vol 1: vi & 166 pages, with fold-out colour map of the Battlefields Park, 1909 By Frederick Todd. Six colour illus plus 7 b&w illus. Vol 2: pages 167-388 plus 4 page appendix; 4 colour illus & 17 b&w illus.
The Wilson Collection includes 3 copies of this 2 volume set: two copies bound in brown leather (copies 1 & 2), and the other with a paper cover (copy 3). All three of the Wilson Collection copies were reviewed; select images are pictured above. Also reviewed and pictured are two copies of The King's Book of Quebec, Volumes 1 and 2, held by Queen's University (OCLC #3356612); one copy bound in brown leather with the two volumes bound into one, and the other with each volume having a paper cover.
