Doughty, A.G., Picture of Quebec: notes written for this copy by A.G. Doughty, Quebec: Dussault & Proulx, Printers, September 1903.
Picture of Quebec: notes written for this copy by A.G. Doughty consisted of a single sheet of paper folded into 4 pages with each page measuring 18.5 cm height x 11 cm width, printed in black and red ink by Dussault & Proulx. This booklet published in September 1903, was limited to 3 printed copies. In its pages, AGD provided his assessment of the state of the literature written on the history of Quebec in English. The title of AGD's booklet referred to two of the publications AGD reviewed which included a small book entitled, Picture of Quebec by George Bourne, Quebec: D. and J. Smillie, 1829; and Picture of Quebec with historical recollections, by Alfred Hawkins et al, Quebec: printed for the proprietor by Neilson & Cowan, 1834. It is this later publication which AGD was most interested as it contained information on the siege of Quebec which according to AGD was at variance with facts. As well, it contained a number of illustrations which included, for example: a picture of the death of Wolfe; a photograph of Donald McLeod who was in charge of Wolfe's remains on the voyage to England; and the plan [Quebec] of 1845.
