Doughty, A.G., Plan of Town of Quebec, the Capital of Canada in North America, with the bason and a part of the adjacent country shewing the principal encampments and works of the British Army commanded by Major General Wolfe, and those of the French Army commanded by Lieut. General the Marquis of Montcalm, during the siege of that place in 1759, Quebec: Victor Lafrance (binder), 1900.
This publication consisted of a single coloured map bound in black leather, with the Wolfe Family coat of arms embossed in gold on the front cover. Note under the title/description of the map indicated, "The British works are Coloured yellow, and their Encampments red with the Facings of the different corpses. The French works & Encampments are Coloured blue." References for the plan detailed the different parts of the plan.
This plan was part of the documentation that AGD assembled and augmented to determine the site of the battle of the Plains of Abraham. While several plans had been published in the six volume set, The Siege of Quebec and the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, this particular map does not seem to have been originally included, although it was tipped into the Fitzpatrick edition as one of 2 addtional illustrations. It was also published separately. This plan represented an early attempt by AGD to depict the site of the battle of the Plains of Abraham; and to copyright that illustration.
Wilson Collection copy of the Plan of Town of Quebec, 1759, was reviewed; select images are pictured above. A digital copy of this plan is available through Digital Maine Repository.
