The poem was also published in The Daily Mail and Empire, 8 June 1895, p. 8; and in a collection of poems by AGD entitled, Nugae Canorae, Portland Maine: Smith & Sale, 1897, pp. 33-35.
AGD had submitted the poem to the design committee for the memorial on 27 September 1894. The programme listed him as one of the subscribers to the monument.
