Cover Title: Sporting Resorts: Muskoka, Midland lakes, Georgian Bay, Rangeley lakes, Maine. Published in July, 1892.
The Grand Trunk Railway published several guides highlighting the sights and attractions along its routes. During the 1880s and 1890s, there were guide books which underwent several updates and revisions. For example, the title, “Guide to the fishing and hunting resorts on and in the vicinity of the Grand Trunk Railway of Canada” was published in 1890 and updated at least once in 1898. Similarly, other titles of guide books were also published and updated throughout the 1890s.
It is likely that the publication under the title of, A Glance at the Famous Lakes and Other Sporting Resorts on the Grand Trunk Railway: with a summary of fish and game laws, Montreal: Grand Trunk Railway Passenger Department, 1892, was also revised and re-published in subsequent years. Various library descriptions would suggest that there was more than one edition of this published work. For example, the University of Vermont Library holds an 1894 copy of a publication with the same title which is described as a 3rd edition. However, the catalogue description attributes authorship to The Grand Trunk Railway and does not mention AGD. The years and the extent of the number of editions to which AGD contributed could not be confirmed at this time.
No print copies of this publication were available for review. A digital copy of the original held at the University of Alberta was reviewed (CHIM no. 90857); select images are pictured above. This copy contained the following elements:
63 numbered pages, illustrations, maps, [20cm], Includes index
